Tap the + button on the home screen to open a mood check-in. Choose your mood level — from Terrible to Excellent — then optionally add emotions, activities, weather, a photo, or a note. Tap Save when you're done.
Yes. You can add as many entries as you like for any given day. Each one is timestamped independently, so you can track how your mood shifts throughout the day.
Yes. When creating or editing an entry, tap the date field to pick any past date. Your history is always fully editable — so you can back-fill missed days whenever you like.
No account is required. DearMood is entirely offline-first — all your data lives on your device. No sign-up, no tracking, no servers storing your journal.
Emotions are specific feelings you can tag alongside your mood score (e.g. Happy, Anxious, Grateful). Activities are things you were doing (e.g. Exercise, Work, Reading). Both help the Insights page surface what actually affects your mood.
Yes. In the mood check-in, tap Manage next to any section to add, rename, or reorder your own custom items alongside the built-in defaults.
Custom sections let you track anything that matters to you — sleep quality, social life, symptoms, hobbies, and more. Tap Add Section in the check-in to choose from a template or create your own from scratch.
In the check-in detail view, tap the camera icon to pick a photo from your library or take a new one. Photos are stored securely on your device alongside the entry.
The calendar tab shows the full month at a glance. Each day displays a colour-coded emoji face based on your average mood for that day. Tap any day to see or edit its entries.
Year in Pixels shows every day of the year as a coloured cell — your entire emotional journey at a glance. Tap any cell to view that day's entry. The full year view is available with Premium.
Insights surfaces patterns in your mood data — your average score, mood flow over time, best days of the week, and what emotions, activities, and weather correlate with your highest and lowest moods.
At the top of the Insights screen, tap the time range selector to choose 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, this year, or a custom date range (Premium).
Go to Settings → Notifications and toggle on daily reminders. Choose the time that works best for you — morning, evening, or any time you prefer.
With Premium, DearMood can automatically back up your entries to iCloud. You can also trigger a manual backup anytime from Settings → iCloud Backup. Your backup is tied to your Apple ID — no extra account needed.
Go to Settings → iCloud Backup → Restore. Choose the backup you want to restore from. All your entries, custom sections, and settings will be recovered.
Yes — restoring from a backup replaces your current data with the backup snapshot. Make sure you have a recent backup before restoring if you want to preserve your latest entries.
Completely. All data is stored locally on your device. iCloud backups go directly to your personal iCloud account — DearMood never has access to your journal. There are no analytics, ads, or third-party data sharing.
Go to Insights → Export (top-right icon). Choose a time range for your export, then select PDF or CSV format. Export requires a Premium subscription.
The PDF export generates a beautiful visual report with your statistics cards — great for sharing or printing. CSV exports raw mood data in a spreadsheet-friendly format, useful for further analysis.
Premium unlocks advanced Insights (trends, comparisons, time of day, emotions & activities impact), Year in Pixels, custom date ranges, PDF & CSV export, and automatic iCloud backup.
Yes — Premium includes a 7-day free trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel at any time before it does.
Settings.Premium card to open the upgrade sheet.Restore Purchases at the bottom of the sheet.Subscriptions are managed through Apple. In DearMood, go to Settings → Manage Subscription (visible when Premium is active), or go to iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, find DearMood, and tap Cancel Subscription.
First, try restoring purchases via Settings → Restore Purchases. If that doesn't resolve it, email us at support@dearmood.app with your Apple ID email and transaction details and we'll help sort it out. For billing disputes, you can also contact Apple Support directly.
Go to Settings → App Lock and set a passcode. Once enabled, DearMood will require your passcode (or Face ID / Touch ID) each time you open the app or return from the background.
Email us at support@dearmood.app. As a last resort, deleting and reinstalling the app will reset the passcode — but your data will also be cleared unless you have an iCloud backup to restore from.
